The Condition of Education 2010 Commissioner’s Report states:
· About 11 percent of all elementary and secondary school students were in private schools in 2007–08.
· While Roman Catholic schools maintained the largest share of total private school enrollment overall from 1995–96 to 2007–08, the percentage of private school students enrolled in nonsectarian schools increased from 20 to 22 percent during this period, and the percentage enrolled in Conservative Christian schools increased from 13 to 15 percent.
· Between 1979 and 2008, the number of school-age children (children ages 5–17) who spoke a language other than English at home increased from 3.8 to 10.9 million, or from 9 to 21 percent of the population in this age range.
