Standard Application Online Gains Momentum
Posted July 7, 2010
Both at individual schools and at the regional level, talk of the Standard Application Online this spring was prevalent. Whether your school is in a region where applications are decreasing, or you are collaborating to make the application process easier for students applying to multiple schools, the Standard Application Online (SAO) makes sense. Members of SSATB's Outreach Team have been traveling around the country as invited guests and presenters to talk about the SAO. Jennifer Eidam Davis, Director of Outreach, presented to the ISAAGY and NJAIS regional groups. Aimee Gruber, Director of Outreach, traveled to San Francisco and St. Louis to discuss benefits. St. Louis schools not only chose to use the SSAT test next fall, but also voted to use the SAO as their preferred way for families to apply to all regional schools .
In 2009-2010, six schools were exclusive users of the SAO. Tabor Academy (MA) just completed their first year using the SAO as their only way to apply. Andrew McCain, Tabor Director of Admission, reports, “We surveyed each of our admitted families regarding the SAO. We discovered the 82% of those families who completed multiple applications found the SAO easier, or as easy, as the other applications. This cycle, our yield spiked dramatically.”
