New Jersey - A State in Flux
Posted July 20, 2010
The uncertain state of the economy continues to monopolize our conversations and even interrupts our ability to network with colleagues in our usual, familiar manner. It is no secret that the state of New Jersey is muddling through budget cuts in all areas of the public school system. Programming cuts are abundant throughout the state. What does this mean for New Jersey’s independent schools?
At a recent NJAIS meeting, some schools talked about using the budget crisis to attract students to their schools – even implementing a marketing strategy specifically targeting dissatisfied public school families. While a few schools many be targeting the public sector in this manner, the meeting consensus offered a different take. Now is time to empathize with our neighboring public schools, embrace them and support them. We are all in education, albeit public or private. We need to work together to make the most of our programs and offerings to students.
