Call for SSATB Board Nominations, 2011-12

About the SSATB Board:

The SSATB Board of Directors addresses its fiduciary and strategic duties led by the officers and the Executive Committee.  SSATB currently has three standing committees – Finance, Governance, and Test Development – and both Audit and Investment are subcommittees. The full Board meets three times a year (January and June) and prior to or at the conclusion of the organization’s Annual Meeting in September. Committees meet by teleconference between Board meetings. The SSATB Board is dedicated to the organization’s mission of advancing and adding value to the private school admission process for schools, students, and families.

Proposed Candidate Criteria:

The SSATB Board of Directors seeks individuals able to commit the time and attention required to provide exceptional service. The Board seeks a diversity of backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and geographies. For the coming year, the Board particularly encourages nominations for/from candidates in the West, Central States, and Canada. The proposed candidate selection criteria for the class of 2012 include the following:

·         Thought leadership in independent school admission
·         Willingness to engage in discussion focused on the strategic priorities identified by the Board
·         Ability to assist SSATB in identifying creative solutions to the challenges faced by members of the independent school admission community
·         Prior non-profit Board experience
·         Commitment to championing the values of SSATB
·         Technology expertise and innovation
·         Marketing expertise
·         Testing and assessment expertise
·         Accounting/financial expertise
·         Legal expertise

Candidate Nomination Process:

Candidates may self-nominate or be nominated by someone else. Once all candidate information has been received, a confirmation will be sent to the candidate and his/her reference to acknowledge a completed application. Completed applications are then forwarded to SSATB’s Governance Committee, which reviews them and makes recommendations to the full Board at its January meeting. The slate is then approved by the Board at its June retreat.
