Geometric Measurements

Tip

An angle consists of two segments, or two rays, that have the same endpoint. Angles are measured in degrees (°). The sum of the angles along a straight line is 180°.

Sample Problem

In the figure, lines k and m intersect at a point with a line segment as shown. What is the value of y?

Answer Options

(A) 30
(B) 60
(C) 75
(D) 120
(E) 150
View Correct Answer

(E) 150

3x + x + 2x = 180

6x = 180

x = 30

x + y = 180 → 30 + y = 180 → y = 150
