1. Read Each Problem Carefully
Take the time to ensure you understand what the problem is asking before you begin.
2. Pace Yourself
Try not to spend too much time on one problem.
3. "Use This Space for Figuring"
Be sure to use the “Use This Space for Figuring” area of your test book to do the scratch work. If taking the computer-based test at a test center, you will receive a whiteboard.
4. Check Your Answer
Always check to see if you have answered the question asked in the problem. Circling what’s being asked can be helpful, so you don’t mistakenly choose the wrong answer.
5. Units of Measure
Watch for units of measure. Be sure you know and understand in which unit of measure the answer is supposed to be given.
6. Draw Pictures
If you find that a problem is complicated, you can draw a graph, diagram—anything that will allow you to understand what the problem is asking.
7. Answer Sheet
Remember to mark your answers on the answer sheet if taking the test on paper! If your problem is solved in the test book but not marked on the answer sheet, it will not be counted.
