Tip

Probability is the measure of the likelihood that an event will occur, and is represented by a number between 0 and 1. The probability of an event, P, is calculated by the ratio: P = number of specific outcomes/total number of outcomes.

In Jad’s closet, he has 5 striped shirts, 2 white shirts, 6 blue shirts, and 7 yellow shirts. If he selects a shirt at random from the closet, what is the probability of selecting a striped shirt or a yellow shirt?
