E3n by the numbers
E3n = Enroll. Educate. Excel.
E3n is a champion for schools, leaders, students, and families.
Through the merger of ERB and EMA, our vast admissions, academic, achievement, and student well-being resources are coming together to foster whole-student growth by supporting learners and families throughout their educational journey.
Our purpose is written in our name—the three E's are our commitment to help families and schools enroll, educate, and excel. The superscript "n" represents our vision to create exponential impact in independent school education.
The Building Blocks of E3n
E3n was born on March 1, 2026, through the merger of ERB and EMA. Learn about our origin organizations below.
The Educational Records Bureau (ERB)
ERB was a not-for-profit member-based organization with nearly a century of serving independent schools to unlock student potential. ERB's portfolio of assessments and resources, including the ISEE, helped educators thoughtfully track academic performance and the entire student journey, including well-being, belonging, and social-emotional skills.
The Enrollment Management Association (EMA)
EMA began in 1957 as the Secondary School Admission Test Board (SSATB), a consortium of ten schools that developed the first standardized admission assessment for secondary schools: The SSAT. EMA grew to become a non-profit organization serving over 1,200 independent schools and 80,000 applying families annually with industry-leading admission services such as the Standard Application Online.
