Does my student have to use their approved accommodations on test day?

No. The approval of accommodations is to ensure access to the desired accommodations on test day, but students may choose which, if any, accommodations they wish to use on test day.

If your student does not wish to use an approved accommodation(s) on test day, it is best to notify EMA directly as soon as possible.

In some cases, the refusal of an accommodation may not be possible on test day if the refusal will require additional resources which are unavailable at the test center on test day (i.e. an additional test room, proctor, modification to computer-based testing timing, etc.).

*After testing has begun with certain test timing, a student may not choose to use or refuse additional time.
