For testing accommodations, what is a 4-function calculator?

A four-function calculator should contain only basic functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Please note that those calculators containing the following keys are permissible: %, ?, +/-, M-, M+, and MRC.

  • Students approved for the use of a four-function calculator are responsible for providing this piece of equipment on test day for any computer-based or paper-based SSAT administration.
  • Students will be permitted to use this piece of equipment ONLY when completing the quantitative sections of the SSAT.
  • The use of graphing or scientific calculators, calculator watches, or calculator applications on cell phones, laptops, or personal computers is strictly prohibited.
